The Department is saddened to learn of the passing of former Chair and Charles P. Messick Professor Emeritus William (Bill) Boyer on February 26. Pof. Boyer was recruited to Chair the department in 1969, and remained at Delaware for the rest of his career, retiring in 1994. He was the holder of three Fulbright Awards and author of numerous books and journal articles, including many after his "retirement."
A UDaily story from a few years ago talks about Prof. Boyer's intellectual journey as he described it in a talk.
"I always found my discussions with Prof. Boyer to be stimulating, and his interest in the department and its progress never waned," said current Chair David Redlawsk. "The entire UD POSCIR family extends our deepest condolences to his wife Nancy Boyer and their entire family."
Professor Boyer’s Obituary can be viewed here.
