In UDSIS, submit a “Change Major, Minor, etc." form to declare the concentration. Select “Political Science BA/American Politics" or “International Relations BA/Diplomacy". Submit form. If you are declaring BOTH a concentration and a specialization, you will need to submit a “Change Major, Minor, etc." form for each transaction.

What is a DEGR​​EE AUDIT and where do I find it?

The Degree Audit lists all the requirements for your degree. It tells you which requirements have been fulfilled and which requirements need to be satisfied. This evaluation is provided for advisement. It is not an official record. Please report any discrepancies or questions to your Academic Advisor. Consult your Academic Advisor and/or Assistant Dean to verify that all requirements have been met. UDSIS Student Services Center page. Drop down menu: “other academics". May I take a​​s many Political Science courses as I want to?

Please note that no more than 45 POSC credits will count towards the 124 credits needed to graduate.

Who approves course substitutions for the Political Science major, the International Relations major and the Political ​​Science minor?

If I receive a ​passing grade below C- in a required Political Science course, must I repeat the course?

All POSC courses that count for the Political Science major require a minimum grade of C-. Students must have a cumulative average of 2.0 in required courses.

If I receive ​​a passing grade below a C- in a required International Relations course, must I repeat the course?

All POSC courses taken for the IR major require a minimum grade of C-. Students must also receive a C- or better in 30 of the 51 required credit hours and have a cumulative average of 2.0 in the 51 required hours of the IR major.How do I meet the DLE Requirement within the Political Science Department?In the Department of Political Science and International Relations, POSC 464 Internship and POSC 468 Undergraduate Research meet the DLE requirement. An Independent Study, POSC 466 can meet the DLE requirement, after the registered student initiates the webform: “Independent Study and DLE Agreement" form. The POSC courses, POSC 423 "Congress" and POSC 471 "Polling Research and Analysis", have been approved to satisfy the DLE requirement.

If I study ​​at another college or university for a semester, can I get transfer credit?

Yes, but the program must be accredited, and you must have approval in advance on a course-by-course basis from the UD department where equivalent course is housed. The first step is to visit the Transfer Credit Center website for instructions for obtaining departmental and Dean's office approval.

Are there minimu​​m grade requirements for courses required outside the major?

Students must have a C- or better in ENGL 110 and the Second Writing course. Students must have a D- or better in the Math requirement, Foreign Language requirement, Breadth/Group requirement (prior to Fall 2010), or Multicultural requirement (prior to Fall 2010). As of Fall 2010, both University Breadth requirements and Arts & Sciences Breadth requirements require a C- or better to fulfill the requirement. Students must have a minimum 2.0 overall grade point average for graduation.

When do I take​ my Second Writing requirement?

This course is taken after a student has completed 60 credit hours. Courses are in the Course Catalog. These courses are not, however, always taught to fulfill the second writing requirement. Only the specific sections designated within each academic term will satisfy the second writing requirement. Please check the UDSIS registration system to ascertain whether a particular course section will be offered as a second writing course.

What courses may be taken pass/fail?

Courses elected to be taken pass/fail count only as free electives; they may not count toward your major or Breadth/Group requirements. Only one course per semester may be taken pass/fail. A maximum of 24.00 credit hours taken as pass/fail count toward a degree.

How do I comple​te the SENIOR CHECK OUT for graduation?

For CAS, the Senior Check Out is completed "behind the scenes". The Undergraduate Academic Services Office (109 Mitchell Hall) will complete an official senior check out for each spring graduate in the Fall semester of their senior year. Students will receive an email with the link to the Web Form Senior Check Out. Students must view the web form and approve the form. Students would reply at that time, if they see a discrepancy. Students are encouraged to print their Official Senior Check Out for their files. Students in the College of Arts & Sciences do not have to "apply to graduate" (like students in the College of Business). The May Commencement Program includes graduates who completed the previous Fall and Winter, current Spring, and following Summer.

I am a Fresh​man. How can I change my major?

Students must have an established overall gpa of 2.0 in order to change the major. A freshman may submit the "Change of Major, Minor, etc." webform after their first semester grades have been published and the gpa determined.
