Newark, DE 19716<div class="ExternalClass7C0976B50B0A480DB9112CDD5F14EE06"><p> </p><p style="text-align:justify;">Luisa Turbino Torres (she/her or they/them pronouns) is a PhD Student in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware. She is also an Interdisciplinary Teaching Assistant at the Department of Women and Gender Studies. Her work focuses on  the intersection of sports and politics in a distinctive way within the political science scholarship, looking at why and how are sports political. Luisa has diversity, interdisciplinarity, and social justice are core values of her research ethics. She is highly involved in academic service, having occupied different elective positions in and outside her Department. Luisa also had experience working with the Institute for Global Studies (IGS) at the University of Delaware, coordinating different academic programs funded by the U.S. Department of State and serving as liaison between the program and government organizations, members of the community and guest lecturers.
