Biography
Michael Cooksey is the current investigation coordinator at the Office of the Child Advocate. In this role, he helps oversee crimes against children across the State of Delaware, including juvenile human trafficking. Previously, he was a deputy attorney general in the human trafficking unit at the Department of Justice for two years and worked at the DOJ from 2016 until July of 2023. Prior to his role in the human trafficking unit, Michael worked in the civil division as counsel to the Division of Revenue, as well as the criminal division in the violent criminal enterprises unit and the Wilmington trial unit. In the criminal division, Michael prosecuted a wide range of felony cases, including homicide, drug dealing, wiretapping and racketeering, as well as gang prosecutions. Prior to joining the DOJ, Michael spent a year in private practice working on insurance defense claims.​​
